“THE COLORS OF SIATISTA” is an educational program implemented by the Ephorate of Antiquities of Kozani in the mansions of Poulkos and Argyriadis (Maliogas) in Siatista.
The project is co-funded by Greece and the European Union (European Social Fund) through the Operational Program “Human Resources Development, Education and Lifelong Learning, NSRF 2014-2020”. It is a project that aims to enrich the educational programs of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Kozani with a new thematic unit emphasizing visual arts education and artistic creation.
The mansions of Siatista
Many mansions are still standing in Siatista, reminding the era of its great prosperity. From this rich architectural and artistic heritage, the visitor can see only a small part, as only the mansions of Poulkos (18th century), Argyriadis-Maliogas (mid-19th century) and the mansion of Dolgira (late 19th century) are currently open to the public. However, the restoration of three other 18th century mansions (Manousis Mansion, Tzonou Brothers Mansion and Hatzigiannidis-Nerantzopoulos Mansion) is expected soon. The rest of the mansions belong to private owners, some of which are open to the public by arrangement with the owners.
In our art workshop the students’ imagination and creativity take off and take us on a long journey back in time. Using pencils, cardboard, brushes and paints, our young artists capture on paper unique works of art inspired by the decoration of the mansions.
If you do not have the opportunity to visit Siatista and take part in our art workshop in person, you can find here information about our mansions, be inspired by their decoration and take part remotely by uploading your own art creations.
The mansions remain open for individual visitors every day of the week from 8.30am to 3.00pm. However, participation in our educational program is by reservation only. Find out here how you can take part too.
