We thank the pupils and teachers of the Primary School at Eordaia for participating at the educational program and at describing their experience.
We quote from the description on their experience: “Museum educators Foteini Vakratsa and Ioannis Gatas welcomed pupils and teachers at the narrow alley at the Geraneia district of Siatista.
They took a tour at the imposing mansion with patience and cordiality, providing all the necessary explanations on architectural characteristics, decoration and everyday life at the mansion.
They narrated the life of the owner, the rich merchant, Emmanoueledis, who took care of every detail at the mansion to get high aesthetic and perfect functionality! Painted vitraux, wooden painted ceilings, skylights, paintings of cities, mesantres, wooden closets, enormous rooms and elaborated doors that decorate the mansions impressed the pupils and raised their imagination! Museologists’ narration transferred teachers and pupils at the everyday life in the mansion from the buden sofras, Macedonian pies and hot tea to the days of celebration when the orchestra played and the guests had fun at the big hall.
They didn’t skip the hatch were the family used to hide from intruders in difficult times and raise a series of questions, as well as explain the new name of the mansion, after its second owner, Lazaros Poulkides, bought it. Our little visitors were impressed by Mr. Gata’s fairytale and they imprinted their architectural skills on paper.
